A serene residential interior corner

The practice

Founded in 2004, Aldridge is a deliberately small practice.

Every project begins with reading the site and the brief honestly — the light, the slope, the way a family actually moves through a day. We design fewer houses than we are asked to so that none of them is hurried.

A principal leads every commission from first sketch to final site visit. Budgets are honest from the first conversation, and the drawings are resolved before the ground is ever broken.

What the work is built on

01

Considered

Nothing on the drawing is there by default. Every line earns its place.

02

Crafted

Detailed to the millimetre and made by trades we have worked with for years.

03

Lasting

Built so the house still feels right twenty years on — calm, not fashionable.

Three disciplines, one continuous hand.

From site to final detail

A modern house in landscape

Architecture

Ground-up, site-specific houses drawn for your light, your slope, and the way you live.

A refined interior with oak joinery

Interior Design

Joinery, light, and material at close range — interiors detailed as carefully as the shell.

A renovated heritage home

Renovation

Heritage adaptation and reuse that respect what stands and add only what is needed.

“We founded Aldridge on the belief that residential design should feel timeless, calm, and deeply personal.”

Clare Aldridge — Founding Principal, AIBC

Services

How we are engaged.

Residential Architecture

+

New houses designed from the ground for a single site and a single family.

Interior Architecture

+

Whole-home interiors, joinery, and lighting drawn to the same standard as the building.

Heritage Renovation

+

Sensitive adaptation of character homes, including permits and board reviews.

Additions & Extensions

+

More room without moving — extensions tied cleanly into the existing structure.

Feasibility & Site Study

+

Before you buy or build — what a site allows, and what it will quietly cost.

Interiors Styling

+

Furnishing and finishing a completed home, down to the last considered object.

Benefit 01

One principal, from first sketch to final key.

You work with the person who designs your house — not a junior handed the file. The hand that draws it is the hand on site.

Benefit 02

Fixed scope, and an honest budget from day one.

The number we give you at the start is the number at the end. We price the whole brief before drawings begin, so nothing arrives as a surprise.

Benefit 03

Every drawing resolved before the ground is broken.

Decisions are made on paper, where they're cheap to change — not on site, where they're not. It's why our projects finish calmly and on time.

Benefit 04

Built so it still feels right in twenty years.

We design for permanence, not for a photoshoot. Calm proportion and honest material age slowly — the house earns its keep for a lifetime, not a season.

In their words

“They talked us out of demolishing and into something far better. Five years on it's the only house on the block that still belongs there.”

“Clare drew our budget before she drew the house. Nothing was a surprise, and the principal we met on day one was there at the final walkthrough.”

“We came for an addition and left with a way of living we didn't know to ask for. The detailing is the kind you only notice because everything simply works.”
